For over 40 years already the California-based company Patagonia has been producing outdoor clothing and gear, while trying to keep the environmental harms caused by their business activities to a minimum. With such a close connection to nature and outdoor adventures, it is no surprise the company extended their assortment by entering the food market three years ago. Today Patagonia Provisions offers around 25 different food products suitable for traveling, from fruit & almond bars to soup to salmon. Common to all are the company’s efforts to address environmental issues and to encourage support for local producers.
We believe our food can and should be a part of the solution to the environmental crisis – grown, harvested and produced in ways that restore our land, water and wildlife.
Since our past and current food production methods play a critical role in the environmental crisis, Patagonia Provisions together with director Chris Malloy of Farm League shot a documentary exploring this very topic. The 25-min film also introduces four pioneering groups in the fields of regenerative agriculture, restorative grazing, new crop development and selective-harvest fishing – all areas aiming to change our relationship to the land and the oceans.
