The Berlin-based Pâtissier Michael Mayer is blogging for „LAPÂTISSERIE“ and has created his own version of the “Cookie Cup”. An edible cup of biscuit, beautifully decorated and ideal, to drink coffee from it. The biscuit for afterwards is therefore already integrated – and you can save a lot of garbage and/or water.
Coffee and biscuit – an old-fashioned combination. Coffee in the biscuit, on the other hand, is new and way much better.
As part of the “Kitchen Stories” for Nespresso Mayer presents us now his own version. Inspired by New Yorker Dominique Ansel, in whose bakery Mayer first discovered a cookie cup. Ansel’s “Chocolate Chip Shot” is a cup of baked biscuit, filled with cold vanilla milk. But this was coffee lover Michael not enough, he wanted to enjoy a hot, strong espresso from his cup.
Why? Because coffee and biscuit are simply a dream team! He needed a few attempts until the crispy biscuit withstand the warm drink. But thanks to the careful glaze with the right amount tempered French chocolate, Michaels Cookie Cup was not only leakproof, but also exceeded all expectations.
The recipe for his Cookie Cup has been provided by Mayer on Kitchen Stories. So you can easily make your own biscuit cups and on the side of course also look for further treats.
